The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Nursing has been the leader in nursing education in North Carolina throughout its history. Established in 1950, it was the first school of nursing in North Carolina to offer a four-year baccalaureate nursing degree program followed by the first master's degree program, the first continuing education program for nurses, first doctoral program, and first accelerated BSN option to students with college degrees. | Position Summary | This is a 12-month position reporting to a Division Chair. This faculty position will be instrumental in the planning, program development, and execution of a new master's entry program in nursing (MEPN) at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. The fixed term faculty member may have teaching responsibilities in didactic, clinical, laboratory, and/or simulation settings across the School of Nursing based on programmatic needs and area(s) of expertise. In addition to their role in program development, the faculty member may serve as course coordinator, oversee advisement of master's thesis projects, serve on BSN, MSN, DNP, and/or PhD committees. Additional service and scholarship commiserate with rank. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements | Eligibility for RN License in North Carolina. At least 2 years of full-time clinical experience in nursing. Doctorate in nursing or related field from an accredited institution. Ability to demonstrate independent educational or instructional activities associated with the delivery and/or management of nursing student support functions in a university environment. Ability to function independently in the creation, management, and delivery of student instruction and evaluation. |
| Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | Experience in curricular design and evaluation, with knowledge of accreditation standards for nursing education. Certified Nurse Educator (CNE), Certified Academic Clinical Nurse Educator (CNEcl), or Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE). |
