Primary Purpose of Department | Pursuant to NC General Statute Chapter 116, Article 29 A(116-239.5), University of North Carolina at Charlotte is establishing a university laboratory school with the mission of "improving student performance in local school administrative units with low performing schools by providing an enhanced education program for students residing in those units and providing exposure and training for teachers and principals to successfully address challenges existing in high need school settings. The laboratory school shall provide an opportunity for research, demonstration, student support, and expansion of the teaching experience and evaluation regarding management, teaching, and learning." Niner University Elementary School, the lab school for UNC Charlotte, involves an integrated core curriculum for grades K-5 with an emphasis on research-validated practices and social emotional learning. Niner University Elementary seeks to serve learners "within a community-supported environment that fosters scholarship, engagement, and joy." |
Primary Purpose of Position | The primary purpose of the Classroom Teacher is to serve as the instructional facilitator to guide and develop the emotional, behavioral, and academic growth of their students. In addition, classroom teachers will work collaboratively with parents, colleagues, administrators, College of Education faculty, and school community members to support the mission of Niner University Elementary in Charlotte, NC. |
