Work Schedule :
8 : 00 am – 4 : 30 pm; Monday – Friday with occasional evening and weekend hours required, as necessary.
Mandatory Position
This position is designated as ‘mandatory’ and, when contacted to report to work, its incumbent is expected to reach the building as expeditiously as possible using normal precautions as dictated by the adverse weather conditions.
Primary Purpose of Position :
This is a Facility Maintenance Technician (Mechanical Trades) at the Journey level. The position is considered fully functioning in the HVAC trade area. Additionally, this position is expected to be able to perform all general maintenance work. Tasks may include maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction, and design of facility components in the HVAC Shop.
Minimum Education / Experience :
Required Minimum Qualifications :
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
University Preferred Qualifications :
Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years experience. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Essential Job Duties :
The FM Tech Mechanical Trades performs under the direction of the Facilities Management HVAC shop Supervisor.
Duties include :
- Responsible for performing routine maintenance of HVAC , equipment to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and / or the physical condition of buildings do not deteriorate.
- Use electrical test devices to troubleshoot and repair HVAC electrical control circuits.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them by checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.
- Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
- Use knowledge and skill with Building Automation Systems ( BAS ) to complete tasks as needed.
- Look up and order parts using Google sheets and drive.
