Work Schedule | 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; Monday - Friday with 'on-call' designation. This position is designated as 'mandatory' and, when contacted to report to work, its incumbent is expected to reach the campus as expeditiously as possible using normal precautions as dictated by the adverse weather conditions. |
Primary Purpose of Position | This is a Facility Maintenance Technician (Mechanical Trades) at the Journey level with a specialty in HVAC. The position is to be a fully functioning in a particular trade area. Additionally, this position is expected to be able to perform all general maintenance work at the contributing level. This position may also be given the opportunity to perform/learn another trade discipline either at the contributing or journey level. Tasks may include maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction and design of facility components in assigned zone or core maintenance. |

Required Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. University Preferred Qualifications: Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years experience. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. |
Essential Job Duties | Provide general repair to residential and commercial HVAC systems. Repairs to include general repair, belt replacement, hot water systems and ice machine repair. Respond to repairs from the general work order system for a dispersed work site. The Housing Shop HVAC work orders account for approximately 1000 calls for service per year. HVAC Services responds to hot/cold calls, system malfunctions, software issues, and commercial and residential service calls; Performs preventative maintenance inspections and procedures for commercial and residential systems. These inspections are to provide feedback to supervisors and result in the safest and cleanest environments possible for the student and guest populations. Where applicable, assesses any charges for damages to students and guest populations found on these inspections. Performs a leadership role for the Housing Shop's HVAC shop. Department responsibility for compliance with University Safety, State, EPA and OSHA requirements as related to the HVAC functions. |
