Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The University of North Carolina Wilmington’s Watson College of Education seeks to fill a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track Lecturer faculty position in elementary education within the Department of Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle, Literacy, and Special Education to begin August 2025.
We seek a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative colleague who is passionate about teacher education. Successful candidates will have a strong background in elementary social studies education and / or the social foundations of elementary classroom teaching, demonstrate a commitment to public education and to pedagogies customized for social contexts of education and be prepared to teach elementary program courses in social studies methods. They must also be prepared to supervise face-to-face and distance education field experiences in elementary classrooms.
Preference will be given to candidates who possess a record of teaching in multiple modalities, including online synchronous and asynchronous formats. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements To be eligible for employment, the candidate must have :
- Master’s degree in education with at least 18 hours of graduate coursework closely related to social studies education, curriculum and instruction, or elementary education by August 1, 2025 to be eligible for employment.
- K-6 public school teaching experience.
- Experience supervising or mentoring preservice and / or beginning teachers.
- Demonstrated evidence of how teaching, service, community engagement or research contribute to building equitable, diverse, and inclusive communities.
