The temporary part-time staff physician provides medical care to UNCW students, with a focus on evidence-based and preventive care following up with patients and / or their family as needed and appropriate. This position also serves as the backup supervising physician when the supervising physician is unavailable.
Detailed Job Description
- Provide medical care to UNCW students, with a focus on evidence-based and preventive care, following up with patient and / or their families as needed and appropriate.
- Document all patient encounters in the Electronic Health Records in an accurate and timely manner
- Function as backup supervising physician for all mid-level providers at the Student Health Center, being available for consultation in person or virtually
- Participate in quality improvement activities, including peer review and provider chart review
- Maintain and promote a positive, professional, and respectful manner with a focus on customer service, cooperation, inclusiveness, confidentiality, and HIPAA
- Maintain active professional licensure, board certification, and CME requirements
- Other duties as assigned
This position will interact with patients, other staff in the health center, local medical providers, staff, faculty, and families. They will apply their clinical judgment and work within their scope of practice to render medical care to their patient. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Minimum requirements include an MD or DO degree from an approved medical school; a current North Carolina medical license; and board certification in family practice, internal medicine, preventative medicine, pediatrics, or emergency medicine.Three years of experience practicing medicineCurrent BLS or ACLS certification required within the first month after hire Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience Previous work experience providing medical care in a college / university setting is strongly preferredThree years as a supervising physician is preferredExperience with common office-based procedures is preferredExperience with trans health and / or sports medicine is preferred Required Certifications or Licensure North Carolina medical license; and board certification in family practice, internal medicine, preventative medicine, pediatrics or emergency medicine.
