Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The School of Health and Applied Human Sciences (SHAHS), within the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW), seeks an outstanding colleague(s) for a 9-month, full time, position(s) at the rank of Instructor of Practice, Assistant Professor of Practice, or Associate Professor of Practice (all non tenure-track) in the School’s online accelerated Master of Healthcare Administration program beginning August 2025 . Practice Track faculty are initially appointed on a contract of 3 years, renewable based on performance. Practice Track faculty are eligible to apply for promotion to higher Practice Track ranks.
Rank at appointment is dependent on qualifications relative to University and College standards. The successful candidate(s) will join a talented and committed Healthcare Administration faculty serving approximately 450 Healthcare Administration graduate students, have a wide-ranging Healthcare Administration background, and be able to teach a variety of graduate-level courses.
The accelerated curriculum operates on a 7-week model whereby semesters are divided into two 7-week terms across the academic year. Moreover, depending on rank and yearly workload allocation, the successful candidates may conduct research, publish articles, write grants, mentor students, and provide community engagement and service to the program, school, college, university, and profession.
The possibility to work remotely from an approved location in the United States is determined upon mutual agreement with the hiring academic unit and appropriate administrative approvals with the understanding that on-campus presence for some meetings and events will be mandatory. The availability of remote work arrangements varies by division, academic unit, and position, based upon the academic program needs and operational needs. The duration of any remote work arrangement is at the discretion of the university and the hiring academic unit. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- Doctoral degree OR a master’s degree in Healthcare Administration / Management, or Business Administration / Management (with at least 18 hours of graduate coursework closely related to Healthcare Administration / Management), Health Services Management, or a related field from a regionally accredited program.
- All candidates must be able to provide evidence of previous successful teaching experience in a Healthcare Administration program in higher education.

Required Certifications or Licensure Primary Function of Organizational Unit The Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program is housed in the School of Health and Applied Human Sciences (SHAHS) within the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) at UNC Wilmington. The MHA curriculum is a 100% online asynchronous accelerated program (OAP) that prepares graduates for administrative roles in healthcare settings.
