Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (www.pharmacy.unc.edu) is one of six health science schools (Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Social Work, Public Health, Medicine) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is one of the oldest health science academic programs at Chapel Hill. The School teaches approximately 600 PharmD students and 145 graduate students. Position Summary
The Zhang lab in the department of Chemical Biology & Medicinal Chemistry at UNC-Chapel Hill uses interdisciplinary approaches to study how lipid metabolism organizes and regulates membrane signaling, and to develop chemical probes and technogies targeting lipid modifying enzymes as novel diagnostic and therapeutic options. As a part of the Eshelman School of Pharmacy we are committed to advancing medicine for life and developing leaders in pharmaceutical sciences who make a difference in human health worldwide.
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will work on NIH-funded projects to profile small molecule PLC modulators to treat cancer and Alzheimer's disease, and to develop methods to deliver phospholipids into cells. The position holder will also support grant and publication submissions by contributing experimental data and writing key sections, and present work locally and at scientific conferences.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- PhD (chemical biology, chemistry, pharmacology, biochemistry, or a related field)
- Candidates preparing to complete PhD coursework will likewise be considered and are encouraged to apply. PhD or equivalent required prior to position start.
PhD in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field.
