Post Doc Research Fellow-Artificial Intelligence
Salary/Position Classification
- $50,000-$60,000, Dependent on Experience, 12-month contract, Exempt
- 40 hours per week

Purpose of Position
The Artificial Intelligence Research (AIR) Center in the College of Engineering & Mines at the University of North Dakota invites applications for two postdoctoral positions to begin in April 2025. The applicant should possess a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Geography, Physics, or a closely-related field, and a strong potential to contribute to an internationally recognized research program with sustained external funding, and a commitment to high-quality undergraduate and graduate instruction. The initial appointment will be for one year and is full-time and with benefits, with the potential for renewal for a second year, pending an annual review of performance and continued availability of funding.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct research, perform experiments, analyze data, and present the research outcomes at conferences and agencies.
- Write reports and papers.
- Coordinate activities with faculty and research staff.
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate research assistants.
- Maintain close communications with the PIs regarding progress.
Required Competencies
- The candidates should have excellent written and oral communication skills, adequate knowledge in Artificial Intelligence (machine and deep learning), image/signal processing, and dataset processing
Minimum Requirements
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or any STEM related field
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications
- High-quality publications in any one or more areas leveraging big data and artificial intelligence.
- Post-doctoral experience
- Evidence of experience working in large research teams
- Experience with one or more applications including R, Python/Jupyter Notebooks, Tensorflow, Docker/Containerized Applications, Kubernetes, ArcGIS, LLMs, MATLAB.
