Temporary Landscape Assistant
Salary/Position Classification
- $14.00-$18.00 hourly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
- 10-40 hours per week
- 100% Remote Work Availability: No
- Hybrid Work Availability (requires some time on campus): No
Purpose of Position
Support the landscape services group and help make UND campus look beautiful and inviting.
Duties & Responsibilities
There are two levels of Landscaping positions available for Summer 2025. The interview assessment will determine the establishment of either a Temp I or a Temp II Landscape worker. NON UND STUDENT.
- TEMP I -20 hrs and under Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist redoing landscapes around campus
- Mowing and weed whipping (16 and over)
- Pulling flowers, pulling out and replanting shrubs, deadheading perennials, weeding beds, watering, mulching, preparing planters for winter
- Assist with painting athletic fields
- Blowing leaves out of shrub beds
- Tree and stump removal
- Assist in cleaning sidewalks and streets
- Filling potholes
- Other duties as assigned
- TEMP II -20 hrs and over Duties & Responsibilities
- Working with staff to redo landscapes around campus
- Experience in operating equipment to clean sidewalks and streets such as Bobcat skid steers, ToolCats and small articulating front-end loaders
- Filling potholes- experience in operation of small asphalt roller or asphalt crack sealing equipment a plus
- Experience in in the operation of large riding mowers for campus lawn care
- On call for snow removal/storm clean up and willing to assist in supervision of crew response
- Experience running equipment for large scale snow removal and landscape equipment
- Weed whipping, pulling flowers, pulling out and replanting shrubs, deadheading perennials, weeding beds, watering, preparing planters for winter
- Assist with painting athletic fields
- Mulching and blowing leaves out of shrub beds
- Tree and stump removal
- Picking up garbage and branches
- Other duties as assigned
Required Competencies
- Willing to work in an outdoor environment in inclement weather
- Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds frequently and without restrictions
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 15 years of age
- Successful completion of Criminal History Background check
In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. This position does not support visa sponsorship for continued employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid driver's license
- Experience in operation of tractors, large front-end loaders, or forklifts
- CDL license
