Department Summary
UNTHSC School of Public Health is currently accepting applications to fill a part-time Community Health Worker Instructor position in the Department of Health Administration & Policy. This is a 4-month appointment focused on the Texas State Certified Community Health Worker (CHW) competencies for certification. The candidate must possess Community Health Worker Instructor Certification having achieved competency in Capacity Building, Communication, Interpersonal Skills, Service Coordination, Advocacy, Organization, Teaching, and Basic Health Knowledge.
Position Overview
This position is responsible for supporting the Community Health Worker (CHW) program director by teaching one Community Health Worker 160-hour certification training per trimester. The position is renewable as long as funding is available, and the need exists for future cohorts. The CHWI must be approved by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to provide instruction and training in the core competencies to promotors or community health workers.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bilingual and Certified Community Health Worker Instructor.
- 2 years experience in community outreach and service.
- Strong commitment to evidence-based teaching practices and student success
