Position Overview
The Data Engineer collaborates with clients, data stewards, project/program managers, and other IT teams to transform data into valuable information and insights for informed organizational decision-making. They integrate business strategy with statistical, mathematical, and predictive modeling expertise to deliver timely, consistent, and reliable information to their team and customers. Additionally, they propose innovative and creative solutions to problems by applying data mining techniques to uncover new patterns from large data sets.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree and four (4) years related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, R, and Windows PowerShell.
- Extensive experience in data modeling and data analysis.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric is advantageous.
- Demonstrates independent and creative thinking in addressing research and statistical challenges.
- Skilled in handling data from diverse sources.
- Strong analytical and quantitative abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Keeps up to date with the latest trends in analytics and business intelligence within higher education.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:
Proficiency in visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
Familiarity with scripting languages like Python, R, and Windows PowerShell.
Strong SQL development skills.
Knowledge of data modeling.
Understanding of API integrations and data ingestion processes.
Experience with data warehouse and data architecture.
Exceptional communication skills and attention to detail.
Background in using Lean principles, Agile processes, and Kanban tools.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties:
- Collaborates with business leaders to understand their requirements, researches and analyzes potential solutions to enhance business performance using data analytics and visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau, by developing key performance indicators, dashboards and reports.
- Data modeling and designing marts, along with developing stored procedures, to support business needs and facilitate easy data interpretation.
- Providing timely support and resolution for data-related issues.
- Supporting various project needs, including data integrations, data feeds, and data extracts.
- Support Data Governance Activities
- Data ingestion and transformation utilizing scripts, APIs, SQL, and automation tools.
- Learn new upcoming technologies and work towards improvement of Data Analytics Processes.
