Department Summary
As part of the Division of Finance & Administration, the University Budget Office supports UNT’s financial planning by assisting all levels of management in developing budgets that align with the institution’s strategic goals. We ensure that budgeting processes and reports are accurate, timely, and compliant with UNT policies, as well as state and federal regulations. Our office serves as a key resource for financial planning and decision-making across the university.
Position Overview
The Associate Director works with the Budget Director in providing leadership, administration and coordination for the Budget Office. Primarily responsible for assisting the Budget Director in providing leadership and overall management of the University's budget, technical preparation of the operating budget and consolidation/reconciliation of the overall University budget, and providing University wide planning analyses for use by the Budget Director, Vice Presidents and President of the University.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and five years' of related experience
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Skilled in PowerPoint, Excel, and EIS for data analysis, reporting, and presentations
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: Master's degree in business administration or related field. PeopleSoft experience.

- Guide and train budget office staff in cooperation with the Budget Director
- Manage the daily operations of the office and take the lead on urgent issues
- Provides guidance and training to the campus community on funding, source of funds, proper use of funds, and established procedures for managing those funds.
- Review Budget proposals submitted by campus community for reasonableness and accuracy
- Supervise, and at times perform the budget analysts work
- Support the Director with the technical preparation of UNTs annual budget
- Supervises the verification of appropriate funding for any increases to faculty and staff positions and acts as Subject Matter Expert in budget related areas of HR/Payroll and Finance components of Enterprise Information System.
- Accepts special projects as identified by the Budget Director.
- Support, and at times prepare official state and ad hoc reporting
- Continuous monitoring, researching, and benchmarking to identify improvements and efficiencies in processes and systems
