The Transfer Evaluation Specialist position is pivotal to credential evaluation for all undergraduate students. This position is responsible for assessing transcripts and performing assessments of accepted course work for matriculated students and processing credit for all prior learning credit options such as Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and College Level Examination Program (CLEP) testing. They are responsible for reviewing and processing data integrity checks on the transfer libraries and confirming equivalencies comply with university and department practices. After the catalog is published each year, this position will audit the transfer library and prepare reporting to amend entries for updated curriculum. They will manage students' transfer evaluation appeal process and requests for prior learning experience. For consistency, this position will collaborate with admissions counselors and processors, be the department presenter for all admissions events, and manage updating communications sent to students. They also support the Office of the Registrar by assisting students, answering phones and emails, updating process and procedure manuals, and maintaining a high level of knowledge about the department.
This position will work closely with leadership on the implementation and compliance management of SB 24-164. They will assist in creating transfer transparency practices that adhere to the new guidelines established by the State of Colorado, including the Guaranteed Transfer Pathway (GTP) courses, and prepare communications to students regarding the rationale for accepting or denying transfer credit. When the state sets reporting guidelines, this role will assist in preparing those reports.
Job Duties:
- Evaluates transcripts for matriculated students and assists other transfer specialists with admitted and applicant students. Consult with admissions regarding materials needed for official review. (20%)
- Responsible for data entry of credit for current students and prior learning credit, performing evaluations, producing a Transfer Equivalency Report (TER), and notifying the student. (10%)
- Coordinates curriculum audit and updates transfer library for annually after the catalog is published. (5%)
- Performs integrity checks on the transfer library for accuracy and compliance with university and departmental practices. (5%)
- Oversees the transfer evaluation appeal process and requests for prior learning experiences. (5%)
- Assist leadership with the management of CO SB-24-164, verifying UNC complies with transfer transparency guidelines for students. (10%)
- Collaborate with the Admissions office to create a student-first approach to transfer evaluations, assist in planning joint team meetings, and collaborate on student communications. (10%)
- Primary contact for the College of Education and Behavioral Science (EBS) and Performing and Visual Arts (PVA) regarding transfer evaluation and equivalencies, conducts a yearly review of transfer guidelines, maintains appropriate contact lists, and trains new faculty advisors on credential evaluation. (10%)
- Maintains credential evaluation processes, procedure manuals, and communication templates and notifies the team of any changes. Reviews catalog language for the transfer team and updates as needed. (5%)
- Answers the main Registrar phone line and accepts calls about the transfer process. (5%)
- Monitors the transfer evaluation email box, communicates effectively, and provides timely responses. (10%)
- Additional projects as assigned and planned by the transfer team and departmental leadership. (5%)
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Experience:
- 3-5 years of administrative experience
- Preferred
- 3-5 years of higher education experience
- 1-3 years public speaking
- Experience with prior learning assessments
Ability:
- Extreme Attention to Detail
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office
- Ability to multitask
