Museum Research Assistant - Archeological Research Student
Rod Library’s UNI Museum is hiring a student interested in Archaeological objects to help identify and inventory the museum's century old lithics collection. Through this work the successful hire will work to put key collections back together in an effort to share them statewide and update the information in the new museum database. Components of this job will include working with possible NAGPRA related objects and putting collections back together in hopes of enhancing research across the state. The museum has thousands of lithics and we are excited to get them better accessible and to do extensive research on the collection over the spring semester.
Specific duties include :
- Inventories and researches the museum’s Native American lithics collection.
- Identifies and prepares the removal of duplicate materials;
- Updates the collection in the museum’s database;
- Works with the museum photographer to visually document collections;
- Creates data sheets to share regarding key collections;
- Rehouses the collection for both preservation and ease of research use.
Number of Openings : 1
Hourly Wage Rate : $13.00 / hour
Hours Per Week : 20 during the spring semester only
Schedule : Work hours will be 10 : 00 a.m.-4 : 00 pm. Monday-Friday with no weekend or evening hours.
