Life 88.5 KJNW, a Northwestern Media station in beautiful Kansas City, exists to reach listeners with the message of God’s compelling love and hope. If you love creating catchy, memorable and welcoming on-air production content, as well as delivering an engaging drive show, you may be just who we’re looking for as our next full-time Creative Services Director / On-Air Host!

What will I do in this position?
Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
Production (45%) :
- Assume responsibility for all audio and video production. Monitor all audio spots for timeliness and quality. Work with Program Director to ensure all necessary spots for events are done properly and on-time. Keep Program Director informed on all projects. Edit all incoming recorded phone calls to the station for potential use in future promos, fundraisers, and on-air shifts. Produce video and audio content for station web and social media sites.
Social Media (5%) :
Work with Program Director to help provide compelling content for the target demographic.On-Air Show Host (50%) :
Host an assigned air shift Monday through Friday, providing compelling content for the target demographic within station format guidelines as directed by the Program Director. Daily preparation time is required; additional assignments will include weekend voice tracking, and other creative ways to enhance on-air show content across all platforms. Create a friendly & welcoming presence to listeners at assigned events outside the station studios and, at times, outside normal working hours.Because our community is a significant part of our mission and the development of our students, all employees act as a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ by actively partnering with the University to disciple students in growing intellectually and spiritually, and with Northwestern Media to lead people to Christ and nurture believers to mature in their faith.What will it take to succeed in this position?
Minimum Education and Experience :
High school diploma or GED equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferredPrevious Media experience of a minimum of 2 years preferredPrevious audio and video production experience preferredContinually nurture a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; serve as a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintain a kind, Christ-like attitude in dealing with and ministering to people within and outside of Northwestern; and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, doctrinal statement, and Declaration of Christian Community.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact with a variety of individuals in a professional, kind, and tactful mannerAbility to work in both a team environment and independently, without close supervisionAbility to host events and represent the station in a variety of settingsAbility to plan and execute an entertaining air shift incorporating production elements and promosAbility to maintain a flexible schedule and attend station events as neededSelf-starter with ability to work effectively in both a team environment and independently, without close supervisionAbility to work in an organized fashion and complete projects accurately within predetermined deadlinesKnowledge and understanding of legal and technical aspects of broadcastingExcellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate spiritual truthsExcellent broadcasting and public speaking skillsAbility to secure and maintain a current driver’s licenseAbility to pass a background check upon hire and periodically throughout the course of employmentWork Environment :
The work environment involves working for a suburban, Christian owned and operated radio station alongside those with a demonstrated commitment and personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to the mission and values of Northwestern and an agreement to abide by all Northwestern policies.
