The Employee Experience Specialist plays a critical role in empowering the people who power Notre Dame as a member of NDHR’s Employee Experience and Strategic Operations team. The Employee Experience Specialist will provide guidance and support to individual contributors and front-line managers within the University Operations, Events, and Safety ( UOES ) division, specifically in the below areas:
As a coach on performance matters, you will guide front-line people leaders and individual contributors. Collaborating closely with People Strategy Partners, you’ll address issue escalation and resolution, engaging NDHR’s Centers of Expertise to design and implement effective solutions. Key Responsibilities
Cultivate a Thriving Organizational Culture:
- Build strong relationships with designated client groups through onsite visits, department meetings, office hours, and consistent availability (in-person, email, and phone).
- Analyze pulse surveys and partner with leadership to develop targeted action plans based on results, addressing individual and organizational needs.
- Conduct stay and exit interviews to assess employee satisfaction and retention.
- Champion recognition initiatives to celebrate employee contributions and boost engagement.
- Propose strategies and guide necessary changes to cultivate a positive and productive work environment.
- Collaborate with the People and Culture team to offer expert guidance, counsel, and policy interpretation related to employee relations (ER) issues.
- Utilize coaching, counseling, facilitation, and performance management strategies to address ER concerns effectively.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws (anti-discrimination, sexual harassment, FMLA , FLSA , ADA , etc.).
- Escalate complex ER issues as needed, ensuring timely resolution and adherence to best practices.
- Analyze trends in employee relations data to identify areas for improvement.
- Share insights and make recommendations to HR leadership based on data analysis.
- Advise and counsel employees on the Performance Management process, encouraging participation and successful completion.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or up to 3 years of college/technical school plus 3-4 years of relevant experience.
- HR Expertise: Strong understanding of HR processes, policies, and systems; technical and theoretical knowledge of multiple HR disciplines (organizational design, employee relations, benefits, compensation, employment, professional development).
- Problem-Solving & Analysis: Complex problem-solving skills; ability to recognize trends and develop data-driven recommendations; ability to develop clear, actionable steps.
- Conflict Resolution: Competence in conflict resolution; ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial/confrontational situations.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills; ability to establish credibility with all organizational levels; excellent oral and written communication skills; strong customer service orientation.
- Compliance & Legal: Knowledge of current employment laws.
- Technical Proficiency: Excellent skills in using technology tools for diagnosis, examination, analysis, and communication related to client group issues.
- Other: Ability to maintain confidentiality; multi-tasking abilities.
- Proficient in multicultural communication and negotiation skills preferred.
