Irrigation Systems Supervisor

Job Description

Join our team and play a vital role in maintaining the lush and vibrant landscapes of our campus! We are seeking a skilled and experienced Irrigation Systems Supervisor to lead our irrigation crew and ensure optimal watering for all campus plantings and turf.

In this role, you will be responsible for the effective operation, maintenance, and repair of our campus-wide irrigation systems. You will lead a team in both routine and emergency repairs, develop and implement efficient irrigation schedules, and ensure adherence to stringent safety protocols.

Responsibilities

Irrigation System Management:

• Direct and oversee the operation and maintenance of all campus irrigation systems to achieve optimal watering levels for healthy landscapes.
• Ensure all irrigation systems are operational and functioning properly, conducting regular inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Diagnose and resolve complex irrigation system issues, performing both routine and emergency repairs.
  
  

Team Leadership & Supervision

• Directly supervise and lead the irrigation crew, providing guidance, training, and performance management.
• Schedule and assign work tasks, ensuring efficient utilization of resources and timely completion of projects.
• Foster a positive and safe working environment.
  
  

Irrigation Scheduling & Control

• Develop and implement comprehensive irrigation schedules for all campus areas, considering plant needs, weather conditions, and water conservation.
• Oversee and manage the operation of the Toro Sentinel irrigation system, utilizing its features to optimize water usage.
  
  

Safety & Compliance

• Establish and enforce rigorous safety protocols for the irrigation crew, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
• Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions.
• Maintain accurate safety records.
  
  

Project Collaboration

• Provide expert input on irrigation system design and project estimates to the Planning, Design, and Construction department, as requested.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of irrigation systems with campus development projects.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED .
• Previous experience in groundskeeping or landscape maintenance is preferred.
• Ability to operate heavy machinery and landscape-related equipment safely and effectively.
• Knowledge of horticulture practices, including turf management, pest control, and irrigation systems.
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain necessary certifications for pesticide application and equipment operation.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in irrigation systems
• 3 to 4 years experience
