University of Notre Dame du Lac seeks a Lead Data Scientist in Notre Dame, Indiana.
Duties: 50%
- Lead a team of 2 data scientists as well as 2 limited-term interns in data analysis and modelling by managing staff development time, resources, and assigning tasks.
- Manage day to day operations and performance, develop employees skills, report and track staff performance to the Managing Director.
- Coordinate with stakeholders, customers, project managers to define project scope and proper implementation of requirements. 20%
- Lead overall design of data-driven projects and research that target market needs identified with industry partners. This includes high performance computing systems executing large scale data models and accompanying data visualizations.
- Manage lifecycle of data services determining when best to continue maintenance, decommission, or combine solutions together. Also, coordinate with AETL Managing Director, project managers and stakeholders to define project scope and proper implementation of requirements, priorities, and timelines
- Collaborate with the Managing Director AETL , the Lead Software Solutions Architect, and Lucy Institute faculty on planning efforts around areas such as data integrity, retention policies, data management policies. 20% Analytics: implement methods and models to learn, infer, draw analysis from data; identify patterns across various sources of data; collect data and transfer data into formats to make them appropriate for analysis. 10% Train and mentor other data scientists, interns, and industry partners in development: design, implement, and test various data management features such as data intake, fusion, and processing, implement access control and other security features; develop experimental frameworks to collect and analyze data; create reports and software documentation.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s in Computer Science and Engineering, or related.
This position also requires 2.5 years of prior employment experience, skills must also include the following:
- 2.5 years of experience using tools including R, SQL , Python and machine learning methods is required
- 2.5 years of experience effectively solving complex analytical problems is required
- 2.5 years of experience working in data science teams in industry or academic is required
- 2.5 years of experience with machine learning is required
- 2 years of experience developing cloud based data analytics technology is required
- 2 years of experience leading and mentoring use of Tableau, PowerBI, and data frameworks is required.
