POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP IN DANTE STUDIES
The Devers Program in Dante Studies of the University of Notre Dame invites applications for one Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Dante Studies to be held from September 2025 for up to thirty-six months (2 years 1 year renewable). The aim of the Postdoctoral Fellowship in Dante Studies at the University of Notre Dame is to support the most promising early career scholars in the field, and to assist them in establishing a research base at an important time in their careers.
This Postdoctoral Fellowship aims to support recent Ph.D. graduates in undertaking original research, publishing research findings, developing and expanding professional research networks, broadening their teaching experience, preparing for research-intensive careers, and capitalizing on the resources of the University of Notre Dame in fields related to Dante and Italian Studies.
Eligibility: Open to candidates who have successfully completed a doctoral degree between 2021 and August 2025 in Italian.
Responsibilities of the Fellow:
The Devers Program Postdoctoral Fellow in Dante Studies will engage in postdoctoral research for the period of the award; teach up to two courses per academic year and make various contributions to courses at the graduate level; present research in a public lecture; prepare annual activity reports and a summary report at the end of the fellowship, before leaving the University of Notre Dame.
The successful candidate will receive an annual salary of $70,000 as well as a $3,500 professional development fund per annum. Postdoctoral fellows in the College of Arts and Letters of the University of Notre Dame have access to professional development opportunities via Notre Dame's Office of Postdoctoral Scholars.
