The Building Inclusive Growth ( BIG ) Lab , housed in the Department of Economics, is a vibrant research center focused on developing innovative, evidence-based solutions to poverty. We bring together world-class researchers, faculty, and students to tackle the structural barriers that hinder equitable economic growth in low- and middle-income countries.
Our research spans both macroeconomic and microeconomic issues, addressing challenges such as institutional constraints, policy inefficiencies, labor market frictions, societal inequities, and gaps in human capital development.
About The Position
We are seeking a part-time Economics Technical Writer and Research Program Coordinator to support our growing initiatives. This is atwo-year, limited-term position with a flexible schedule, offering between 20 to 29 hours per week. The role is fully remote, with occasional travel to campus for meetings, events, or other in-person activities as needed.
In this role, you will help translate complex academic research into accessible insights for a broad audience and provide essential project coordination support. A key part of your work will involve supporting the development of a publicly available data hub for research funded by the Structural Transformation and Economic Growth ( STEG ) initiative.
This role is ideal for someone who is highly motivated, detail-oriented, and passionate about research, writing, and global development. You’ll be joining a collaborative and mission-driven team working to address some of the world’s most pressing economic challenges.

- Content Development: Summarize academic papers and datasets into clear, engaging blog posts and other written materials for the BIG Lab’s data hub.
- Technical Writing: Create high-quality reports, briefs, and presentations that communicate complex economic concepts to both academic and non-academic audiences.
- Project Coordination: Oversee research project logistics and budgets; supervise enumerators and other research support staff.
- Communications Management: Maintain and update website content, manage social media accounts, and draft email newsletters.
- Data Support: Assist in the collection, cleaning, and preliminary analysis of data as needed.
- Administrative Support: Provide general support in HR and finance-related tasks for the research team.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, a social science or a related field.
- Strong understanding of economic concepts and terminology.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to translate academic research into accessible insights for various audiences.
- Experience with data analysis.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Highly motivated and detail-oriented.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in economics or a related field.
- Experience working in a research environment.
- Experience with website management and social media.
- Experience managing research projects, preferably in the field of impact evaluation
