Job Overview

As a General Maintenance Technician I at the University of Oklahoma, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the upkeep and functionality of our diverse facilities. This position involves executing a variety of maintenance tasks across multiple disciplines, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, swimming pools, food service equipment, landscaping, painting, and carpentry. You will work with minimal supervision, gaining valuable experience in the maintenance field while contributing to a vital community resource.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute maintenance responsibilities involving basic plumbing, electrical, heating, air conditioning, swimming pool upkeep, painting, carpentry, and landscaping.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas.
  • Recognize and report emergency repairs beyond your expertise, following established procedures to summon on-call assistance.
  • Conduct minor equipment repairs as necessary.
  • Accurately complete required forms and logs related to maintenance activities.
  • Utilize small hand tools and power equipment to perform tasks relevant to craft trades.
  • Undertake additional related duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Basic mathematical skills and proficiency with computers.
  • Strong communication abilities, both written and oral.
  • Competence in updating written records, including computerized documentation.

Qualifications

  • No formal education is required.
  • 0-9 months of experience in basic maintenance activities, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, swimming pool maintenance, painting, carpentry, and landscaping.
