Postdoctoral Researcher
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral researcher to work at the cutting edge of bioinformatics & medicine in the laboratory of Prof. Mitchell Lazar at the Institute for Diabetes, Obesity, and Metabolism at the University of Pennsylvania. The successful candidate will have a strong computational biology background and work closely with experimental biologists to develop tools and analyze genomic (e.g., RNA-Seq, ChIP-seq) and epigenomic (histone modification and DNA methylation) data, bulk and single cell. By analyzing novel and previously published NGS datasets, he/she will make discoveries related to diabetes, obesity, and metabolism.
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in bioinformatics/computer science/physics or a related field, be highly motivated to solve biological problems, and have strong programming skills. At the minimum, we require:
- 1 years of Python or R experience;
- 1 years of Next Generation Sequencing data analysis experience;
- familiarity with data mining/data science;
- demonstrated expertise in applied statistics (hypothesis testing, confidence intervals).
Expertise in developing bioinformatics tools is highly recommended.
