Job Description Summary

Reporting to the AVP of Prospect Development, the Director of Prospect Development and Research is integral to the University’s prospect identification and pipeline management efforts. The Director of Prospect Development and Research will oversee a team of research analysts working on university prospect identification and pipeline management and serve as a centralized resource for prospect researchers across the university. The Director will ensure the maximization of tools and methods to support effective prospecting across the university.

Job Description

The Director will:

  • Execute a comprehensive prospect development program that identifies, rates, and recommends prospects through biographical, financial, and philanthropic research.
  • Develop and implement policies and standards for donor/prospect research projects with primary focus on major and principal gifts.
  • Evaluate, organize, and present prospect information in reports using gift capacities, key wealth indicators, and information helpful to determine prospect engagement
  • Directly supervise central research staff (9 staff), including hiring, onboarding, training, professional development, delegating duties, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Lead and provide analysis of ongoing prospect development goals, metrics, and tracking.
  • Work closely with school and center units to provide quantitative and qualitative analysis of pipeline activity and movement using data analysis.
  • Work on key priority projects, assigned by AVP of Prospect Development. Prioritize research requests and ensure timely and accurate delivery of information.
  • Manage the University research budget and maximize the use of resources for prospecting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts, and 7 to 10 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Management experience. Excellent problem-solver, ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously, team-player with focus on building strong relationships and delivering information in a clear and timely manner. Proficiency with research and wealth-screening tools, and knowledge of advancement CRM systems.

$74,476.00 - $105,000.00 Annual Rate

Salary offers are made based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
