The Program Assistant will provide operational and administrative support to the Penn Program in Environmental Humanities at the University of Pennsylvania, including event and program coordination and staffing, program promotion and communications assistance, and financial and office coordination.
Job Description
Founded in 2014, the Penn Program in Environmental Humanities (PPEH) fosters interdisciplinary environmental collaboration and scholarship at the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, and beyond. Responsibilities include assisting in the planning and coordination of programming and events, to include managing all logistical arrangements, itineraries, venue bookings, catering and set up; staffing events; assisting with copy editing for print and digital promotional copy, updating content for website, newsletters, brochures, social media postings and public and internal calendars; processing, monitoring and verifying financial transactions and maintaining detailed, accurate records; and ordering supplies.
This is a temporary position at 30 hours per week with an approximate end date of June 2022.
Qualifications:
H.S. or GED diploma and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Bachelor's degree and/or experience in an academic environment preferred; proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. Website content maintenance and/or design experience preferred, particularly experience with Drupal and Wordpress. Must be self-motivated and possess strong attention to detail as well as organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Must be a self-starter who is able to interact professionally with diverse publics, including faculty and students; manage multiple and competing priorities; work under pressure; and meet deadlines. Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Familiarity with Penn University systems is helpful. Demonstrated background and interest in environmental humanities, sciences or arts preferred. Occasional evening work.
This Targeted Pay Range is only applicable to this job posting. All salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
