As an LPN, you'll use your knowledge, experience, and sound judgment to provide exceptional care under the direction of RNs and licensed UPMC providers. Your role will include performing focused assessments, IV insertions, and collaborating with a team of skilled surgeons to deliver outstanding patient outcomes.Elevate your nursing career with us-where your dedication and expertise are celebrated every daySHIFT / HOURS : Flexible hours with preferred availability on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 : 00 AM to 3 : 30 PM. Schedule varies based on surgical case load, with additional shifts available as needed for call-offs.Responsibilities :
- Functions as a member of the healthcare team, using nursing judgment, knowledge, and experience.
- Participates in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care through focused assessments.
- Communicates with licensed professionals when patient care needs exceed the LPN's scope or expertise.
- Seeks guidance and supervision when implementing new or unfamiliar procedures.
- Follows UPMC policies, LPN Practice Guidelines, and the State Practice Act.
- Collaborates to create a healing environment within the framework of Relationship-Based Care.
- Formulates and communicates individualized care plans and goals for patients.
- Provides comprehensive patient documentation and contributes to patient safety and satisfaction goals.
- Offers patient and family education, supporting care transitions and continuous professional improvement.
- Builds positive relationships with patients, families, and colleagues, and maintains a healthy work-life balance.Qualifications :
- LPN experience strongly preferred
- IV insertion competent
- Ability to establish positive relationships with patients, staff, and providers.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage priorities, and use specialized equipment.
- Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, and lifting patients.
- Computer skills required for electronic health record use.Licensure & Certifications :
- Active LPN licensure in the state of practice or through the Nursing Licensure Compact.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- ACLS, PALS, and NIH Stroke certifications within one year of hire or transfer.
- Must pass licensure exam within 4 months of hire or within one year of graduation.
