Job Description
The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a full-time Instructor in Psychiatry who will contribute to the Department’s research and training missions.
The Incumbent’s Responsibilities Will Include
- Identifying emerging trends in clinical and research training, assessing the needs of trainees and faculty
- Designing innovative learning experiences that enhance learning outcomes
- Collaborating with faculty, administrators, and external partners to integrate cutting-edge technologies and training methods into the Department’s academic programs
- Evaluating the effectiveness of these programs through continuous assessment and feedback, making necessary adjustments to ensure they meet the Department’s goals and standards
The search committee will primarily be looking for a strong background in academic administration and extensive experience in both research and education. Key qualifications include:
- An Advanced Degree/Pursuit of an Advanced Degree: A doctorate in a relevant field, such as education or a related discipline
- Educational Innovation: Experience in developing and implementing innovative training programs and experiences, particularly in the context of biomedical research training
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Ability to work across disciplines and collaborate with faculty, community partners, and other stakeholders to enhance the training programs
- Leadership and Mentorship: Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in overseeing mentoring programs for students and junior researchers
- Assessment and Evaluation: Expertise in assessing and evaluating training programs to ensure they meet the institution's goals and standards
- Fundraising: Experience in successful applications for funding to support these programs.
- Strong organizational skills
- Flexibility and ability to work in a rapidly changing/growing educational institution
