Who We Are
The Pittsburgh Hearing Research Center, PHRC, at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, consists of a dedicated group of scientists, physicians, and staff working on basic and clinical aspects of hearing and sound perception, in both health and disease. PHRC’s goal is to perform basic science and translational research to develop solutions, cures, and products to treat and prevent hearing loss and hearing loss-related disorders.
Our group will focus on translational research specifically 3D imaging of the inner ear and advancing drug delivery to the inner ear.

Required Education and Experience
· Appropriate PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Strong background in Optics
· Hands-on experience with aligning optical systems
· Programming skills
· Excellent written and oral communication skills (incl. track record of publications)
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Preferred Education and Experience
· Strong background in image analysis
· Hands-on experience with building microscope
· Leadership and project management skills
Responsibilities
· Research: Budling a light sheet microscope, as well as conducting independent research involving imaging and image analysis.
· Mentorship: Performs project management and mentorship of graduate and undergraduate students.
· Publication: Publishes results in peer-reviewed journals and through conference participation.
