Assistant Director of Communications, Health Sciences
The Division of Philanthropic & Alumni Engagement (PAE) at the University of Pittsburgh is dedicated to fostering meaningful relationships with donors, alumni, and stakeholders, supporting the University's mission in education, research, and healthcare. We invite you to become a pivotal part of our team as the Assistant Director of Communications . In this role, you will serve as the integral part within PAE's Health Science department, reporting to the Director of Communications.
Key responsibilities include :
- Oversee mission-critical projects supporting both the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC.
- Engage audiences, including 47,000 alumni of Pitt's health sciences schools, over 9,000 UPMC former residents and fellows, and 17,000 UPMC grateful patients.
- Develop and lead communications initiatives in collaboration with department-based partners, writers, designers, and shared services team members.
- Support multi-channel strategies, including print, social media, digital (email and web), and annual fundraising efforts.
- Manage annual fundraising efforts, exceeding $1 million collectively through more than 90 solicitations per year.
- Handle project and relationship management with more than 60 partners.
- Create strategic plans to support complex fundraising initiatives and impactful collateral.
- Write, edit, and gather information within a complex organization.
- Demonstrate exceptional project management skills.
- Maintain a strong service orientation and a highly collegial and collaborative approach to meet the marketing and communications needs of clients.

Job Summary
Oversees strategy and implementation of priority communications projects requiring cross-disciplinary and integrated approaches and serves as central campaign coordinator. Leads team and collaborates with senior leadership and internal clients on high-level communications campaigns. Establishes performance goals and measures and ensures adherence to style, branding, and regulations. Develops core messaging and creates campaign content.
