Med-Medicine
The Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine Division of the DOM is recruiting for a Director - Research Information Technology. The division is led by division chief Alison Morris, MD and Executive Administrator Barbara Suchonic. The division is made of up approximately 70 clinical staff and over 100 research staff who work in a variety of locations including: Bridgeside Point, Biomedical Science Tower (BST), UPMC Hospitals including Presbyterian, Shadyside, East, Jameson and Mercy. The division provides world class services across 10 inpatient services at five hospitals and over 70,000 outpatient office visits. We have a major research mission that focuses on basic, clinical, and translational research on the lung, microbiome, COVID-19, sleep medicine, and allergy and immunology.
Essential Functions
Develops plans and strategies for research technology enhancement. Designs and develops both the analytical strategies and the computational software required for implementing these strategies using a deep knowledge of mathematics, statistics and AI for analytics and integration of multi-omics and clinical data with a focus on studies of host-microbiome interactions. Leads and advises staff on a variety of projects and initiatives surrounding research including authorship of manuscripts for publication and grant submissions for external funding. Leads troubleshooting of analytic pipelines (software) and hardware (IT). Leads strategies to identify and implement efficiencies in analytical routines of big data (software) and hardware (IT). Develops educational components for enhancing multi-omics and clinical data analysis and interpretation for students and investigators.
Physical Effort
Must be able to sit/stand for up to 8 hours a day.
