What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Associate Director, Planned Giving, Schools and Centers position at University of Pittsburgh?
Establishes and builds relationships with current and prospective planned gift donors to increase the organization's philanthropic resources. Manages estate administration, bequests, retirement plan gifts, life income gifts, and securities. Coordinates the stewardship funnel of planned giving donors as well as the efforts across planned giving staff, offices, and external audiences to correlate University goals with prospect interest and capabilities. Responds to all donor inquiries, administers gift annuities, and serves as primary contact with the planned giving administrator.

Key Responsibilities
- Fundraise from current and prospective donors capable of donating $100,000 or more in outright and/or planned gifts.
- Build and maintain a diverse and sustainable portfolio of donors.
- Plan and implement major and planned gift fundraising activities in assigned regions.
- Generate support from donors through cash gifts, testamentary bequests, charitable trusts, life-income gifts, and other complex gifts such as real estate or closely held securities.
- Develop and deliver proposals and gift agreements to major and planned giving prospective donors, aligning with university goals and priorities.
- Travel at least 30% of the time for donor engagements and fundraising activities.
- Serve as a consultant to Schools & Centers gift officers, providing strategic expertise for major and planned gifts.
- Develop and deliver training to staff and volunteers on major and planned giving.
- Manage projects and strategic initiatives in marketing, philanthropic education, seminars for prospective donors, stewardship strategy and events, and administration of realized estate gifts.
- Actively contribute to Planned Giving work in marketing, philanthropic education for staff, seminars for prospective donors, stewardship strategy and events, and administration of realized estate gifts.
Essential Functions
- Possess strong analytical skills to understand complex financial documents, taxation, and legal principles in planned gift fundraising.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with colleagues and prospective donors.
- Manage multiple responsibilities effectively, including meetings and regular travel.
- Communicate persuasively in writing and orally to prospective donors and other stakeholders.
- Learn internal procedures and regularly update data in Salesforce, including activity reports for donor and colleague contacts, creating reports, and managing gift documentation.
- Possess advanced skills in using computers, phones, and programs like Word, Excel, and Microsoft Teams.
- Moderate physical effort required.
- May be required to stand/move for several hours at a time.
- May be required to move objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance of equipment.
