Definition of Classification:
Reporting to the Chief Health and Wellbeing Officer (CWO), the Assistant Director and Student Success Coordinator for the Mental Health Training and Integration Center (MHTIC) plays a vital role in developing and managing programs that support the success and wellbeing of graduate students in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program. This includes overseeing the Student Success & Professional Well-being Program, Professional Counseling Mentorship Program, and Graduate Peer Support Program.
The role involves direct student support, program development, and cross-departmental collaboration to ensure student retention and success. The Assistant Director will work closely with faculty and staff to implement evidence-based strategies that enhance students’ academic, professional, and personal growth. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills are essential for success in this position at the University of Redlands.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate programming and curriculum to support CMHC graduate students’ success and wellbeing.
- Oversee the operation of the Student Success & Professional Well-being Program, Professional Counseling Mentorship Program, and Graduate Peer Support Program.
- Design and conduct educational workshops, training sessions, and peer support initiatives aimed at fostering professional growth and personal resilience among graduate students.
- Provide direct service and mentoring to graduate students, offering guidance and feedback to support academic and professional success.
- Coordinate and facilitate student panels, meetings, and events to promote engagement, interaction, and information-sharing within the CMHC community.
- Ensure that the programs are consistently tailored to meet the needs of graduate students while utilizing ongoing feedback to refine and improve the services.
- Support and collaborate with the CWO and other key personnel to coordinate site visits, meetings, training, and data collection activities.
- Work in partnership with departments such as Admissions, Enrollment, Marketing, and IT to ensure cohesive program development and support for student recruitment, success, and retention.
- Organize and lead Advisory Committee meetings in collaboration with the Center Director and participate in the onboarding and training of team members across various departments (IT, Marketing, Admissions, Enrollment, Adjuncts).
- Collect, analyze, and report on data related to student engagement, success, and wellbeing to track the impact of programs and initiatives.
- Provide feedback and recommendations for continuous program improvement based on data and student input.
- Coordinate logistics for program events, meetings, and activities, ensuring smooth operations and compliance with all institutional policies.
- Maintain accurate records, program documentation, and other necessary materials in support of ongoing project tasks.
- Assist in grant-related tasks, including reporting, project updates, and tracking of outcomes as required by funding agencies.
- Performs other related duties and special projects assigned.
Qualification Guidelines
Any combination equivalent to, but not limited to, the following:
Experience/Training/Education:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a related field.
- Additional training or certification in program management, student success initiatives, or mental health is preferred.
Experience
- At least 3-5 years of experience in higher education, student support services, or counseling, with a focus on graduate students.
- Demonstrated experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams and collaborating with diverse stakeholders across various departments.
Preferred
- Master’s degree is preferred but not required. Additional experience in student support or mental health services will be considered in lieu of advanced education.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and support diverse student populations.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and data analysis skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and familiarity with data management tools.
- Knowledge of mental health issues affecting graduate students and evidence-based strategies for supporting student wellbeing.

Working Conditions:
Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines, particularly during peak campaign periods or events.
Standard office setting. Duties performed are primarily in an office environment while sitting at a desk or computer workstation or in meetings. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.

HIRING RANGE: Anticipated hiring range is near or at the minimum of the classification, commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training. The University of Redlands is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range considers the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range for this position is defined as the Full Pay Range. The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is defined as the Hiring Range. Placement within the Hiring Range is determined by internal equity, and relevant qualifications.

PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL EXAMS: For certain positions typically in Public Safety, Facilities, Athletics and Information Technology Services departments, employment is contingent upon a candidate passing a pre-employment physical exam with the ability to lift in excess of 50 lbs. Public Safety Officers, in addition to a pre-employment physical exam, will also be required to pass a psychological evaluation.
