Clinical Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Teacher Education

Position is full-time, academic year, non-tenure track, limited to 06 / 30 / 2028 with anticipated renewal.
The University of Rhode Island's Feinstein College of Education seeks applicants for a non-tenure-track clinical assistant professor in early childhood teacher education. This is a full-time, nine-month appointment beginning in Fall 2025, with a two-year appointment with possibility of renewal. The primary responsibilities include teaching early childhood teacher education courses, supervising practicum and / or residency experiences, assisting in program coordination, conducting practice scholarship, and engaging in service. Additional duties will include developing and maintaining collaborative and professional partnerships with local schools and districts as well as with URI's Child Development Centers (CDC) in Kingston and Providence. The search committee is particularly interested in candidates who, through their teaching, practice scholarship, and / or service, will enhance the College's commitment to equitable educational practices and academic excellence.

The Feinstein College of Education (COEDU) at the University of Rhode Island offers a fully accredited Early Childhood Education (ECE) program that leads to a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree and initial teaching certification for Pre-K through Grade 2 in Rhode Island. The Program highlights early childhood (birth to age 8) as essential and uses a holistic framework to support young children's learning and development. Experiential learning represents the core of the program as students obtain practical experience through clinical work in elementary schools throughout RI and at URI's NAEYC-accredited Child Development Centers in Kingston and Providence. Both centers provide high quality lab-school experiences and serve as both practicum and teaching residency placements for Prek-2 certification. The successful candidate will participate as a core faculty member in the pre-service early childhood teacher education program and may have opportunities to mentor master's and doctoral level students in the COEDU graduate programs.
