Basic Function
Under the direction of the URI Director of the National Institute for Undersea Vehicle Technology (NIUVT) and the NIUVT Associate Director of Operations, play a critical role in developing and maintaining NIUVT research efforts. Ensure project participants understand and adhere to the requirements associated with conducting controlled, unclassified research projects. Utilize experience and direct development of tools and practices to facilitate collaboration between academic, industry, and government partners and minimize risk associated with the controlled unclassified information (CUI) nature of NIUVT research and activities. Manage and communicate new methods and practices to NIUVT faculty and stakeholders.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Explore research and funding opportunities identifying methods, approaches, and best practices to facilitate collaboration between academic, industry, and government partners conducting research in the CUI realm.
Learn and remain up to date on current NIUVT research and identify & explore research synergies/opportunities for NIUVT faculty within the Navy.
Provide critical and essential support to facilitate URI faculty engagement in technical group meetings, concept exploration, and annual meetings.
Under the guidance of the Associate Director of Operations, participate in research project kick-off and close out activities with the fiscal coordinators at URI and UConn to ensure research-related technology transition requirements (e.g. interim and final reports) are completed on time.
Organize faculty and student NIUVT refresher meetings each semester and conduct informal drop-in sessions or office hours to support student and faculty research and compliance.
Plan and manage the execution of annual technical research group meetings in accordance with university CUI meeting standard operating procedures.
Serve as URI faculty liaison for NIUVT URI research project logistics involving technical, material, equipment, and CUI needs.
Collaborate as part of a team to coordinate with faculty compiling new and updated Technology Control and Security Plans (TCSP) and Export-Controlled and Classified Information Certification (EEC) with URI and NIUVT personnel.
Attend regular meetings with NIUVT partners, including academic, industry, and government partners.
Maintain records and prepare reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
Other Duties And Responsibilities
Perform other duties as required.
Licenses, Tools And Equipment
Personal computers, printers, word processing and spreadsheet software. U.S. Citizenship. Microsoft Office. Google apps.

Required Qualifications
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Engineering.
- Minimum of four years of project management experience or business/operations experience.
- Demonstrated evidence of U.S. Citizenship.
- Demonstrated experience with university operations and university-based research.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office and Google apps (Sheets, Doc, Forms, etc.).
- Demonstrated organizational skills.
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.
- Willingness to travel in Rhode Island (i.e., URI Bay Campus) and Connecticut (i.e., UConn Avery Point).
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
PREFERRED:
- Master’s degree in Business Administration or Engineering.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
- Demonstrated experience with grant writing.
- Demonstrated coding experience to Automate and Manage Data.
- Demonstrated experience working with the military.
- Demonstrated experience in processing controlled information.
- Demonstrated experience working with faculty.
- Demonstrated ability and/or willingness to hold or obtain a DOD security clearance.
