What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director, Alumni Belonging position at University of Richmond?
SUMMARY:
The assistant director will be a vital partner with the director of alumni relations for Alumni and Career Services. The position will be responsible for designing and implementing programs and initiatives that foster a culture of inclusion and belonging and enrich the constituents’ lifelong relationship with the University.
The assistant director will support existing and emerging groups, including Multicultural, LGBTQ , and First-Generation alums, by providing avenues to build community. They will work closely with the Student Center for Equity and Inclusion and help identify and operationalize new ways to center and celebrate belonging, and enhance connections around identity, affinity, and lived experience.
This position entails direct management of volunteers, fiscal oversight of the program budget, and all facets related to programmatic management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Programming
- Analyze data related to existing and emerging groups, focusing on market segmentation, to revamp current programs and develop new programs.
- Conceptualize and execute programming for these populations, overseeing all processes ranging from program development, event production, document writing, and publications. A key priority in this programming will be increasing support for the goals of Alumni and Career Services, Advancement, and the University.
Volunteer Management
- Develop capacity-building and training initiatives for alums, volunteers, volunteer leaders, and staff.
- Identify and recruit new volunteers.
Marketing and Communication
- Develop, provide content, and maintain presence for existing and emerging groups on the office website and social media platforms.
- Develop and provide content for program portion of the website, including event information, online registration, and electronic correspondence.
Data Collection
- Maintain, in conjunction with administrative assistant, records related to events, including registration lists and attendee lists.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB), including experience/ability to identify and emphasize diverse perspectives in programming, communications, and strategy
- Demonstrated commitment to collaboration.
- Excellent volunteer management skills.
- Excellent special event planning and facilitation, including liability and insurance protection best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, along with the ability to interact with diverse constituencies. Understanding of the importance of customer service.
- High degree of comfort with technology, including social media platforms, and willingness to learn the functionality of new platforms.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including comfort level with public speaking.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, in conjunction with comfort level of working in fast-paced environment while handling multiple projects. Demonstrated solid problem solving skills.
- Experience with Microsoft office software, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Accounting principles and recordkeeping also are essential.
- Knowledge of constituent databases, including Blackbaud CRM, as well as web-based software, including BBIS.
WORK HOURS:
- Full-time, exempt position
- Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week
- Requires travel on average 8-12 days of the month and comfort level with travel to major metropolitan areas
- Requires work on evenings and weekends and on reunion and homecoming weekends
SALARY STRUCTURE:
Pay Grade 6 (Hiring Range $44,775.00 to $59,325.00 annually)
