Financial Analyst II
Position Overview:
The Financial Analyst II provides essential financial and operational support for clinical research at URMC. Working independently and with minimal supervision, this role collaborates with investigators and departments to manage budgets, negotiate with sponsors, oversee revenue and expense tracking, and ensure efficient project execution from initiation to completion. This position requires strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills, along with a solid understanding of the clinical research process.
Key Responsibilities:
· Budget Development and Management: Develop and seek approval for coverage analyses and research budgets. Collaborate with investigators and stakeholders to evaluate study protocols, timelines, and costs. Maintain budgets in the Clinical Trials Management System (CTMS) and provide status updates.
· Sponsor Negotiations and Financial Analysis: Negotiate budgets with sponsors, address queries, and finalize agreements. Analyze financial data, generate reports, and provide recommendations for budget improvements.
· Invoicing and Reconciliation: Manage sponsor invoicing and payment reconciliation, ensuring accurate documentation in CTMS and WorkDay. Provide detailed financial reports and collaborate on strategic initiatives for billing efficiency.
· Calendar and Protocol Support: Build and validate study calendars, coordinating with study teams to ensure proper integration into OnCore.
· Billing Review and Oversight: Ensure clinical research studies have appropriate billing grids and participant records. Facilitate transaction reviews, corrections, and communication with Patient Financial Services. Support initiatives for process improvement and billing best practices.
· Collaboration and Professional Development: Build strong relationships across departments and stakeholders. Participate in meetings, educational activities, and industry research updates. Contribute to special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or a related field.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience, or equivalent education and experience.
- Knowledge of clinical research and human subjects studies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database tools.
- Strong budgeting and negotiation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and communication abilities.
- High attention to detail, initiative, and ability to manage priorities effectively.
