Responsibilities
GENERAL PURPOSE
Performs psychological and/or neuropsychological testing for patients in inpatient and outpatient settings. May assist with undergraduate and graduate academic student internships and education.
Essential Functions
- Directs patient contact involving administration of psychological and neuropsychological measures following clinical protocols.
- Conducts medical record review of patients prior to appointment. Records and makes specific observations of patient’s behavior during test in both written and verbal formats. Scores administered measures and documents scores for review by the neuropsychologist in both written and verbal formats. Organizes clinically pertinent patient information in written format for neuropsychologist to review.
- Demonstrates advanced clinical judgement/skills during test administration, including test discontinuation, deviation from standardized instructions and modifications during the assessment process to meet the individual needs of the patient.
- Assists with clinical treatments, such as data gathering for counseling and behavioral interventions, under the supervision of a neuropsychologist.
- Participates in research activities and program development, including literature reviews and manuscript prep, review and editing. Participates in data collection and data analysis to assist with clinical data interpretation and clinical write up of results.
- Assists with outpatient clinic coordination. Tracks outpatient case load.
- Presents clinical topics with faculty, including hospital Grand Rounds, department meetings and community-based presentations.
Minimum Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology or related field and 2 years of relevant experience required
- Master's degree preferred
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Psychological/ neuropsychological coursework and/or exposure required
- Test administration required
- People skills/rapport development required
