Responsibilities
GENERAL PURPOSE:
Responsible for producing high quality X-ray images in an inpatient setting by conducting exams in a safe and efficient manner. Verifies and follows referring providers' orders while remaining in compliance with the Imaging Sciences departmental policies. Possesses a sound understanding of human anatomy as well as x-ray positioning and the use if immobilization devices when warranted. Receives training as well as regular direct supervision or guidance from a more senior technologist to perform proficiency of the required tasks. Takes independent responsibility for performing general section studies in a safe and efficient manner, completing all associated paper and computer work while providing high quality images for radiologist interpretation.

Essential Functions
- Prepares room and patient per order. Properly sets up equipment, positions patients, and determines proper exposure factors to produce a high quality image.
- Utilizes electronic patient information systems to verify patient name, date, appropriate exam, and any special exam specific comments from the provider. Understands and practices the Dual patient identifier procedure.
- Maintains appropriate supplies in the X-ray rooms.
- Produces a diagnostic, high quality image for interpretation by the Radiologist.
- Transfers patients to and from imaging tables using assistive devices such as ARJO lift, transfer boards, hover mats.
- Maintains accurate patient record keeping by properly identifying images and ensuring images are sent to the PACS system correctly.
- Completes and bills for studies accurately.
- May train new employees or lead day-to-day work activities.
Minimum Education & Experience
- Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology. required
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- CRT - Certified Radiologic Technologist current NYS licensure upon hire required and
- ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists with CE credits upon hire required
