POSITION SUMMARY :
The Graduate Assistant Student Engagement position serves as mentor, advisor, and resource agent for the University of Saint Mary (USM) student community. Responsible for encouraging a positive learning environment for USM students by coordinating services, providing on-call coverage, and supporting essential functions of the Student Life The Graduate Assistant Student Engagement may be on-call when their supervisor is absent. They are part of the professional staff in Student Life and report to the Assistant Director of Student Engagement. The Graduate Assistant Student Engagement works with the Student Life Department and is responsible for helping to shape and maintain positive learning opportunities and serve as a role model for USM students. As part of the Student Life Department they are responsible for providing support to the department, by assisting in the planning and implementation of USM student events, providing support to campus activities, the 1st Generation Program, and other student success activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Serves as a role model to students and student staff.
- Assists with planning and implementing student events.
- Maintains assigned office hours within the department.
- Provides assistance and support to students and staff.
- Assists in the planning and executing of New Student Orientation and 1st Generation Program.
- Collaborates with various university personnel and offices.
- Participates, as appropriate, in college-wide committees.
- Assists the Graduate Residence Life Assistant when necessary.
- Performs additional job-related duties as assigned.
