POSITION SUMMARY:
The University of Saint Mary is seeking a full-time faculty member (Nine-month contract) to teach a variety of courses related to Sport Management, Management, and Marketing within the Division of Business and Information Technologies. The faculty position is for an Instructor or Assistant Professor, depending upon experience. The person will join a division of full-time faculty members dedicated to excellence in teaching and student advising who are committed to upholding IACBE and HLC accreditation standards. Teaching assignments will be predominately on-ground at our Leavenworth and Prison Education Program locations; however, assignments may include on-line classes depending on instructional needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ability to teach variety of topics related to sport management, including organization and administration of athletics, sport marketing, legal aspects of sport, psychology of sport, sport facilities and event management;
- Ability to teach introductory courses in management and marketing;
- Prepare syllabi and deliver curriculum appropriate for the course(s) assigned;
- Maintain effective and timely student assessment and feedback;
- Manage and foster an inclusive educational environment to serve all learners;
- Maintain student attendance records in accordance with university policy;
- Submit mid-term and final grades on time;
- Maintain office hours for student contact and support;
- Advise Sport Management Majors;
- Work with colleagues to grow the Sport Management Program;
- Demonstrate professionalism with students, faculty, staff, and administration;
- Timely attendance at all required training, Division meetings, and university-related meetings;
- Complete all required training, including LMS and HR compliance;
- Maintain expertise in current teaching and discipline technologies;
- Assist with accreditation reporting;
- Actively participate in governance and university committee(s);
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s degree in Sport Management or related field in combination with appropriate industry experience.
- Preferred, Doctorate (PhD, DBA) in Sport Management, or Doctorate (PhD, DBA) in sport management-related field from an accredited institution with related industry experience.
- At least two years of full-time (or full-time equivalent) teaching experience in higher education, on-ground, in-person courses.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Additionally, candidates should have an affinity to the mission of the university.
- Ability to teach in a second discipline is a plus: management or marketing upper level courses.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
