Duties
and Responsibilities :
Psychiatric Assessments :
Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations to assess the mental health needs of complex clients.
Utilize clinical expertise to diagnose mental health conditions and develop appropriate treatment plans.
Medication Management :
Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
Monitor medication effectiveness, adjust dosages, and address any side effects or concerns.
Collaboration :
Work closely with other clinical staff, including Clinical Director, therapists and case managers, to provide integrated care.
Participate in team meetings and case conferences to discuss treatment plans and client progress.
Client Care :
Provide ongoing support and follow-up for clients receiving medication management.
Offer counseling and guidance on medication adherence and mental health strategies.
Documentation :
Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including assessments, treatment plans, and medication logs, in accordance with clinic policies and regulatory requirements.
Compliance :
Ensure that all prescribing practices comply with federal and state regulations, as well as VA guidelines.
Stay informed about changes in regulations and best practices related to psychiatric medication management.
Professional Development :
Engage in continuous learning and professional development to stay current with advancements in psychiatric care and medication management.
Share knowledge and contribute to the clinic’s overall clinical excellence.

Degree Verification Requirement : Persons offered employment in this position will be required to provide official education transcripts for degree verification purposes.
Job Requirements :
Minimum Qualifications :
Educational Requirements :
Master’s degree or higher in Nursing with a focus on a Nurse Practitioner specialty (e.g., Psychiatric-Mental Health, Family, Pediatric, or Adult-Gerontology).
Psychiatric-Mental Health :
Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
Licensure :
Active Nurse Practitioner (NP) license from the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN).
Furnishing Number :
Obtain a furnishing number from the California BRN, permitting the prescription, ordering, and furnishing of drugs and devices.
DEA Registration :
Obtain a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration number for prescribing controlled substances.
Collaboration / Consultation Agreement :
Maintain a collaborative agreement with a physician
Experience :
Three to five years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner with demonstrated ability to provide the full scope of care for higher acuity patients, in the area of specialty, with limited supervision.
Advanced knowledge and experience in managing psychiatric medications.
Proven knowledge of psychiatric principles, practices, and process gained through extended clinical study and experience.
Knowledge of psychiatric models of care with emphasis on interdisciplinary team approach.
Demonstrated abilities and experience in providing crisis counseling to patients and families regarding any aspect of diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience working with military populations and / or veterans is strongly preferred
