Department Computing Sciences Job Purpose
The University of Scranton Department of Computing Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track, Open Rank position beginning August 2025.
The Computing Sciences Department at The University of Scranton offers undergraduate majors in Computer Science (ABET accredited), Applied Computing (ABET accredited), and Information Technology, and a Master’s degree program in Software Engineering. With the department having seven full-time faculty and approximately 100 students majoring in its various programs, the faculty-to-student ratio is low, fostering direct interaction between faculty and students. The department is located on the first floor of the Loyola Science Center, with all faculty offices, departmental labs, and associated resources in close proximity to each other.
Essential Duties
Primary responsibilities include teaching courses in Computer Science, Applied Computing, Information Technology (including cybersecurity), Data Science, and/or Software Engineering (at graduate level).
Requirements
Additional Skills Required Minimum Education Requirements
Applicants with a PhD (or ABD) in a computing related field with a degree in Computer Science may apply.
Preferred Education
Applicants with a PhD in Computer Science are preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum Job Experience Requirements Preferred Qualifications
At least one year of in-classroom college-level teaching experience is preferred. Candidates with expertise in areas such as computer security, cloud computing, and contemporary software engineering practices are especially encouraged to apply.
