Responsibilities
The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiology at the University of South Alabama is seeking a board certified invasive, interventional cardiologist to join a collaborative group of academic cardiologists. The division includes an established cardiovascular disease fellowship training program, an ICAEL accredited Echo lab and an ICANL accredited Nuclear Lab, and the regions only Level I Trauma Center. Cardiac invasive and interventional services and a comprehensive cardiac surgery program are available. Commitment to clinical service and teaching duties are the highlights of this position. Research opportunities and faculty mentoring are also available. Academic rank is open to Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor and will commensurate with training, experience, and academic productivity.
Faculty expectations include:
* Cath lab: performing, and supervising fellows, in diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral procedures, head-up tilt table testing, and device implantations as applicable per qualifications* Outpatient Cardiology Clinic: covering a wide patient referral base. Supervision of cardiology fellows' outpatient clinic* Inpatient and consult services: supervision and instruction of medical students, trainees in ACGME-approved internal medicine and family medicine residents, and cardiovascular disease fellows* Interdisciplinary teams: working collaboratively with other providers, trainees, and ancillary staff on quality initiatives, including the cardiothoracic surgery Heart Team quality improvement project
Required Skills: Board Certified in Cardiology, BC/BE in interventional Cardiology, ability to obtain an unrestricted medical license in Alabama
Preferred Skills: Peripheral diagnostic and interventional skills, peripheral vascular ultrasound imaging experience, Level II training in Nuclear Cardiology
