Responsibilities
The comprehensive epilepsy program at the University of South Alabama provides important care for patients with epilepsy. This includes continuous video EEG monitoring in our epilepsy units and advance pharmacological and electrical stimulation management, and epilepsy surgery. The adult program has been robust and performs multiple epilepsy surgeries per month. The need for epilepsy care is even more pronounced in children and a successful epilepsy surgery program has been launched at USA Children's and Women's Hospital. The current proposed position is to seek 2 individuals who will develop the majority of their clinical time to developing and maintaining an active pediatric epilepsy program. This will help address a serious need in the Gulf region. The job duties include:
1. Evaluate and treat pediatric patients with intractable epilepsy2. Perform EEG and neurodiagnostic studies for pediatric patients with intractable epilepsy3. Perform surgical evaluations for pediatric patients with intractable epilepsy4. Perform general neurological evaluations, hospital call under direction of the chair
Job Requirements
1. MD or DO with license/eligibility for license in Alabama2. Board certification/eligibility in Neurology per the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology3. Board certification/eligibility in Epilepsy and/or Clinical Neurophysiology per the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology strongly preferred.4. Successful completion of a Neurology Residency Program accredited by ACGME.5. Fellowship training in epilepsy and/or clinical neurophysiology, with extensive experience in pediatric epilepsy management and epilepsy surgery evaluations
