What are the responsibilities and job description for the Postdoctoral Fellow position at University of South Alabama Medical Center?
Job Overview
The Bruder's laboratory in the Department of Physiology & Cell Biology at the University of South Alabama is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to study the endothelial mechanisms involved in the control of blood pressure and genesis of hypertension. Our primary interest relies on exploring the autocrine mechanisms of endothelial cells in maintaining vascular tone and promoting anti-inflammatory responses in the context of cardiovascular disease. Our lab utilizes state-of-the-art techniques to investigate vascular function (wire and pressure myographs, DMT), blood pressure (radio-telemetry, DSI), and molecular and cellular techniques (AAV and lentivirus for gain and loss of gene function and chimerism) combined with engineered genetic mouse models.
Requirement:
-Ph.D or equivalent degree
Plus
-Strong background in vascular biology
-Experience in isolating arteries, including aorta, mesenteric, and pulmonary arteries
-Familiarity with mouse models of hypertension and cardiovascular diseases
Why Join Us
-We are an NIH-funded lab with secured funding for the next five years
-Trainees will be supported in applying for fellowships and transitioning to independent grants (such as AHA and NIH)
-Our vascular biology lab, located at the University of South Alabama on the Gulf Coast, offers proximity to beautiful beaches, and Mobile is home to a vibrant Mardi Gras celebration.
