The SC Small Business Development Centers and the SC Hispanic Chamber have established a position for a Business Consultant. This consultant provides hands-on, private business consulting and delivers educational programs to entrepreneurs and small business owners in the assigned territory. Some examples of subject matter the consultant will offer are COVID-19 recovery strategies, business plan creation, fiscal management, obtaining financing, marketing, growth strategies, operations management, etc. The focus of this position is on the Hispanic small business community; the individual must be able to deliver services in both English and Spanish. Primary objective is to increase outreach and direct assistance that improve clients’ access to capital, job creation and retention, business startups and business growth.
Job Related Minimum Required Education And Experience
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 1 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
Preferred Qualifications

Strong preference for experience working in or with small businesses and for consulting experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Applicants for this position must have a good working knowledge of basic business tools to include financial analysis, business research, marketing, and accounting, and be proficient in the use of computers and MS Office. Consultants must be comfortable speaking in public to represent the SC SBDC at functions such as educational workshops and Chamber of Commerce or other public events, and in speaking with a diverse group of individuals such as bankers, government officials and resource providers.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience and/or knowledge of commercial business financing. Self-starter, goal oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Individual identifies key partners and develops collaborations that leverage resources in order to help small businesses succeed. Potential relationships include local and regional government agencies, economic development organizations, faith-based institutions and private sector companies.

Advancement of the SC SBDC:Participation in SC SBDC committees, co-consulting, network activities, client advocacy and community/legislative outreach that promote and advance the success of the network. Includes professional development and special assignments as appropriate.
