Advertised Job Summary
Perform general construction duties as a carpenter to include, but not limited to, construction and maintenance tasks as needed to complete building modifications. Demonstrate compliance with regard to safety practices and requirements as outlined by the University, School of Medicine, and OSHA policies, procedures and regulations. To demonstrates commitment to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures and regulations.
Job Related Minimum Required Education And Experience
Requires job related accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications
Experience in building maintenance as a carpenter working with metal and wood applications.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to hang and finish sheetrock, painting and all phases of wall finishing. Capable of planning, organizing and prioritizing work. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans and read specifications. Ability to work independently and perform detailed work. Good reasoning skills needed. Knowledge of safety practices relevant to the area of employment. Required to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures and regulations.

Works with existing painter, electrician, and other trades specialists in performance of tasks as needed. Works as a team member to perform all aspects of general construction/modifications and other duties as needed. Use all safety standards relating to each job. Care for, and maintains tools and equipment.

Layout and build walls and partitions, install doors, door frames, door hardware, ceiling work, floor work and all other facets of general construction/renovations work.

Trouble call response, investigation and correction for general building maintenance; electrical, plumbing, etc.

Attends training sessions to maintain up-to-date and knowledgeable of safety guidelines and requirements; ensures compliance with safety and building codes.
