Deadline Extended Student Programs Specialist, $15-17/hour (Program Assistant, Temporary, Part-time, Flexible Scheduling, 5-20 hrs/wk, as needed to teach programs), USC Aiken Ruth Patrick Science Education Center
The Ruth Patrick Science Education Center (RPSEC) is seeking a dynamic, experienced educator with background knowledge in science and mathematics to deliver exceptional, hands-on instruction for K-12 students and adults. Opportunities for instruction include programs at the RPSEC and outdoor field experiences.
This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education or a related field. Demonstrated ability to use basic education principles and positive methods of classroom management are necessary. The specialist must be willing to handle and provide care for wild animals such as amphibians, reptiles and owls. This position requires someone with demonstrated leadership, strong public relations skills, computer competency, and outstanding organizational abilities.
The Student Programs Specialist will typically teach K-12 students between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM during normal school days on an as-needed basis. The candidate will need to work occasional evenings and Saturdays when the RPSEC has special events and should be willing to help with program set up and clean up. The RPSEC is an exciting place to work if you have a passion for inquiry-based science education!
