Assistant Director of Event Services

The Assistant Director of Event Services contributes to the success of the Russell House by overseeing the event services team. This position will supervise professional staff and student staff, oversee the scheduling of reservable spaces in indoor and outdoor areas, monitor event planning and execution, manage projects of varying scale, serve a department representative with campus partners, vendors and contractors, assist with aspects of facility operations related to event management practices. Additionally, this position will be accountable for contributing to a positive, friendly work environment that encourages, enhances and demonstrates collaboration, teamwork, professionalism and equity among staff, students and patrons on a daily basis. This position enhances the quality of students’ experiences and provides exceptional service to the USC community through daily interactions and long-term expectations and goals
Primary duties include:
- Oversee professional and student staff
- Monitor and assist with the planning and execution of events
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
- Serve as a departmental representative with campus partners, vendors and customers using the Russell House

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Working knowledge of program planning and management, event production, and space utilization. Skilled with facility and event scheduling processes and familiarity with event management software as well as budget management. Must be available for irregular hours and shifts, extended workdays, and on-call emergencies.
