Event Coordinator

  • Are you a self-starter with excellent communication skills?
The Coordinator of Events is responsible for assisting in the planning and execution of events and training in the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs. This role ensures programs and events are marketed and advertised to maximize outreach and engagement, and event details organized to ensure success of the department’s initiatives and programs.

Day to Day for this position:
  • Event planning and execution, ensure event details are organized for successful implementation
  • Develop and execute marketing and advertising strategies to maximize outreach and engagement
  • Manage event logistics, including scheduling, venue booking
  • Maintain accurate programming records

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 2 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Coordinate and assist with programming opportunities that provide meaningful, beyond the classroom experiences, for all student populations. This position will assist will maintaining accurate and complete programming records utilizing different databases. This role will handle venue reservations, catering or technological needs.

Assist in creating and distributing newsletters for office recognition, and advertising for programming supported by OMSA and other office lead programs, initiatives, or workshops. Create digital content to market and advertise the area’s initiatives.

Provide support and assistance to the associate director, maintaining the day-to-day operations of the office. Assist with training development, retreats, staff meetings, and coaching sessions for student employees. Assist with staff schedule for the front desk and auditing office resources.

Provide assistance with organizing Fall Break and Spring break trips. Assist in the creation of the itinerary for the trip(s) and maintain the database for recruiting students for the trips.
